Last chance ….
At the 31st of January these special Windows 8 related offers are ending:
This means that the Windows 8 (Pro) upgrade will be much more expensive:
http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/archive/2013/01/18/update-on-windows-8-pricing.aspx
On the Microsoft Store it looks like it’s current upgrade price of 30 euros will become 280 euros.
So even if you don’t need/want Windows 8 yet, it might be worth considering to just buy it right now.
For more information, including how to perform a clean install when you’ve bough the upgrade, please check my previous post.

On a regular basis Microsoft and its partners host Free IT Camps. In the past I’ve blogged about them because I really think they’re a good way to quickly get up-to-date on products and technologies. Besides that it’s also a good way to get to know other people.
On the Microsoft Events website you can see which future events are available and not just IT Camps events.
Also should you not be able to attend an IT Camp, for Server 2012 you can also use IT Camps On-Demand.

Microsoft Virtual Academy (MVA) is hosting 3 virtualization related Jump Starts in January and February:
- Introduction to Hyper-V Jump Start (January 24th, 2013)
- Microsoft Virtualization for VMware Professionals Jump Start (January 30th, 2013)
- Microsoft Tools for VMware Migration and Integration (Late February)
I’ve attended a couple of Jump Starts including those of Office 365, Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 already and I think it’s a great way to quickly get up-to-date about a subject. Also there’s a great team of people working behind the scenes to answer questions and provide more detailed resources. Other attendees often also share their experiences and provide valuable insights.
The links above provide include a course outline and a link to register for the Jump Start.
I hope to see you there.

I didn’t have time yet to check these out myself. If you’re already using this tool or have already completed a course, please let me know if you liked it.

Introduction
For those who haven’t read my previous blog posts, here’s a short summary. A couple of weeks ago I decided that I wanted to know more about cloud computing and get certified as well. I used freely available resources to attain these certifications:
In short, my conclusion was that the quality of the freely available resources were not sufficient. ITpreneurs responded to this by giving me access to their own paid ITpreneurs Cloud Essentials eLearning Course which I reviewed here.
I also contacted TrainSignal to get access to their training videos for CompTIA Cloud Essentials because their previous training videos on different subjects have always been great. They were kind enough to grant me access to the training videos which made this review possible.

Through a colleague of mine, Gabrie van Zanten (Gabes Virtual World) I heard that there was another free e-book for Windows 8 available called “Windows 8 for Dummies, Dell Pocket Edition” and I wanted to share this with you.
I’ve browsed a bit in this e-book and it looks like it’s a really good read for people who have not much experience with (Windows 8) computers. It covers the basics, but also contains many practical tips for common home users.
If you want to upgrade to Windows 8, take advantage of the limited time cheap upgrade offer. Also if you want to know more about Windows 8, check some of my other blog posts covering Windows 8.
